James W. Shay and wife, Julia (Smith) Shay moved
their family to Bracebridge sometime after 1891 and
lived there until 1911. Daughter, Laura Myrtle, b 1887,
married John Thomas Long in 1905 in Bracebridge.
The Longs had two sons, Gerald and Belfred.The Longs
moved to Port Credit.( Belfred
had at least two children.) . Gerald later moved back to
Muskoka area. Would like to find out who John Thomas
"Jack" Longs' parents were.
James W. Shay's parents were Cornelius and Martha
Shay from Portland Twp, Frontenac Co. Curious whether
any of his relatives also moved to Bracebridge area.
He had brothers, Thomas A. and John A., who I have not
found as yet. Any connections?
